Goal summary

Providing adolescents in the slums of Mumbai with a 3 month professional course to learn to dance and perform various forms of visual art on stage.

Project summary

This gives these young people a chance to escape slum life, learn essential skills and in turn pass these skills on to younger generations within the community. Performing arts will also help them express themselves, improve their self esteem and provide hope for a brighter future.

How

The street children will follow a 3 month course to learn professional dancing and performing skills. After the course they will perform outside their own slums in Mumbai, unlocking a sense of pride for the entire Pardeshi community. After the 3rd month of the course, the group will start teaching the younger children in the community in order to sustain the project for the long-term and positively affect future generations.

  • These 15 individuals from within the Pardeshi community in Mumbai are at a particularly vulnerable age (13-23) they have received no education and are exposed to the culture of alcoholism and begging.  This course will change their lives by adding creativity and providing purpose.

Why (Project owners drive)

One dream is enough to empower a movement, I believe in the dream that one day we enable one slum community to break out of the poverty circle and become middle class citizens. By making little steps we hope to accomplish this dream. We believe in a better world, and we believe we can actually make this world a better place. For all of us. We believe each and every one of us can make a change, however small that may be. Because tiny changes can lead to miracles. And this is exactly what we do in a tiny place in the world; in the red light district of Mumbai, India. Creating the city of miracles in Mumbai India, Our dream is to enable one slum community to break out of the poverty cycle and become middle class citizens by 2020.
