About me
My name is Dirk Makelaar, married to Natasja and (step)father of Jesse and Stijn. In my daily life I'm working as a locationmanager at Netwerk VSP / PostNL. In 2011 my family, and the company I'm working for, gave me the opportunity to work in Malawi as a projectmanager for the World Food Program for a couple of months. Since then, Malawi is playing a big part in the life of our family and we are continuously trying to support a couple of orphans who live in one of the poorest regions in Malawi, Chikwawa.
What gets me out of bed?
Helping children, who weren't as lucky as my children to be born in a rich country like the Netherlands, to live a better life by receiving nutritious food and good education.
