Goal summary

In the Netherlands a lot of people live below the poverty line. These people can't give their children presents during the holiday season, for example on Sinterklaas, a Dutch holiday. These Dutch children believe that Sinterklaas gives presents to everybody, who has been good. So the children may believe that they have been naughty or not nice as an explanation for not getting presents. We think this is very sad and that every child in the Netherlands deserves to get at least one present on Sinterklaas.

Project summary

We will give 200 children in Amsterdam Zuid-Oost a present for Sinterklaas. If we don't give these children a present they wouldn't get one at all. We are closely working together with a foundation thats called Bread For Life founded by Regina Mac-Nack. Every week they give away hundreds of food packages to people, who can't afford to buy their own food. With Regina's help we will give 200 kids a present, so that they can celebrate Sinterklaas just like the other children.

How

We approached some companies to donate presents and we will raise money to buy presents and wrapping paper.

  • These are children between the age of 2 and 12 years old. They won't get a present on Sinterklaas evening unless we help them. If these children don't get a present they won't understand because they think that Sinterklaas gives to everybody. They will believe that they have been bad because other children do get presents from Sinterklaas.

Why (Project owners drive)

I have 3 little sisters and Sinterklaas always was very important for us. The whole year we looked forward to this time of the year and later we talked about our presents with friends. I think that everybody should experience this. That is why we created this project.

Relation between the project partner (excecution) and the project owner (fundraising)

We saw a documentary about the food bank of Regina Macnack so we wanted to help here with all the children from the families she helps. These people don't even have money for food so they certainly don't have money for presents. This is why Regina Macnac
