Location
- Lobufu
- Kasempa
- Zambia
Goal summary
Provide better access to clean drinking water by rebuilding the local water well for the 400 inhabitants of Lubofu. Also, to install a solar driven pump for irrigating homegrown vegetables and crops.
Project summary
Rainfall in Lubofu has declined drastically over the last 30 years, leaving it's inhabitants mostly depending on water wells for their drinking water and irrigation. Because the hand dug well collapsed, now only 60% of people have access to safe water and only 49% are provided with sanitary fittings.
How
By building a new water well and installing a solar driven pump, we provide the inhabitants of Lubofu with clean drinking water and irrigation facilities. We improve their quality of life and boost agriculture and local economy.

Why (Project owners drive)
I'm Wim Wijsman, retired though still active as a volunteer at several projects. I have met Willem Brendsen, the Maker of this project, and his wife at a wedding in Lubofu. I greatly admire the time and effort they voluntarily spend on projects and their relationship with the local people.
